About
Hullo, I’m Jo Waterhouse (also now known as Jo Bourke) and I’ve written and compiled the books featured here. The Books are Concrete to Canvas 1 & 2, Art by Tattooists and Indie Craft, published by Laurence King and the 2012 book Wearabale Vintage Fashion co-authored by Clare Bridge, published by Vivays Publishing.
Click on the individual book pages, on the right, for full details of each book and links to contributors’ websites.
The books I have written are on subjects that I am genuinely interested and involved in. I basically just envisaged the kind of books I would really like to buy myself.
I’ve interviewed many artists over the years specialising in DIY, Subcultural and ‘Low Brow’ art and culture.
This is a list of the artists I’ve interviewed for Modart Magazine, +1 Magazine and my first foray into arts writing, the now defunct online magazine coldspace.net:
Andrew Pommier,
I also wrote the Introduction to the monograph for/by Kev Grey
For several years I organised and promoted many exhibitions locally at Spine Skateshop & Gallery including shows for Simon Peplow, Log Roper, Kev Grey, Phlegm Comics, Chris Johnson, Molotov Circus, and Matt Walford as well as the group show and zine Curious Creatures which included artwork by Dave The Chimp, Jon Burgerman, Ian Stevenson, and Timothy Karpinski, to name a few. Sadly Spine closed in October 2010.
I now organise the monthly flea, vintage, antique and craft market: The Worcester Flea, as well as other vintage events such as fairs and fashion shows, as part of WAVE, plus I work for Second Hand Rose Vintage Apparel. See my personal blog at www.jowaterhouse.blogspot.com for more on these vintage themed projects.
